In his review of Eduard Glaser's work 'Die Abessinier in Arabien und Afrika auf Grund neuentdeckter Inschriften', Ignazio Guidi (1844–1935), professor of Hebrew and Semitic languages at the University of Rome, concedes that not everyone will find the conclusions Glaser arrives at or the identifications he proposes to be probable; nor will everyone like the polemical tone that Glaser sometimes employs.
However, Guidi believes that Glaser's work is of great importance and should be carefully studied by all those concerned with the ancient history of South Arabia and Abyssinia - 'history to which Glaser has rendered particular service'. (p. 71)
