In 1887, the British Museum acquired a large collection of South Arabian (mainly Minaean) inscriptions collected by Eduard Glaser (1855-1908) during his second journey to Yemen (April 1885 - February 1886).

was provided by the French orientalist Hartwig Derenbourg (1844-1908).
