Nachschrift: Gerade nach Abschlusz dieser Arbeit trifft die ersch�tternde Nachricht von dem am 4. Mai erfolgten Ableben August Dillmanns ein, des Meisters der �thiopischen Forschung, des trefflichen Menschen, des correcten Gelehrten. Wir werden nimmer seines Gleichen sein. Friede seiner Asche!'

fragment of an essay by Eduard Glaser (1855-1908) entitled 'Bemerkungen zur Geschichte Altabessinies und zu einer sab�ischen Vertragsinschrift' (p. 26) which the explorer published after returning from his fourth journey to Yemen (January 1892 - March 1894):
In the epilogue, Glaser informs about the death of the German scholar August Dillmann (1823-1894), 'the master of Ethiopian studies whose achievements will remain unmatched. Peace to his ashes!'
