'Lieber Bruder Karl! Deinen Brief vom 3. d.M. habe ich richtig erhalten u. mit Vergnügen daraus erfahren, dass Ihr doch etwas bei Herrschmann gerichtet habt. Auch Alois hatte mir dasselbe mitgetheilt, wie auch, dass er meinem Wunsche gemäsz für dich 2000 fl zur Verfügung hält.
... Von Siegmund habe ich ebenfalls Brief erhalten, in welchem er mir vorlamentiert, dass er einen Anzug, Bücher, Instrumente u.s.w. brauche. Das thut er regelmäszig, nachdem er das Geld schon von Alois verlangt hat, als ob er gar nicht wüszte, dass es mein Geld ist.
... Auch verbot ich ihm von Alois sich Geld borgen zu lasse, weil ich das doch schlieszlich auch bezahlen muszte. ... Wir müssen unseren Bruder Siegmund mit dem Gedanken vertraut machen, dass er selber für sich zu sorgen habe und dass es mehr als genug ist, wenn ich ihm monatlich 50 fl schicken lasse.
... Als 32jähriger Mann musz er wissen, wie es mit ihm u. uns steht. Da hört sich die Gemüthlichkeit auf. ... Grüsze mir alle u. seid alleweil guten Muthes Dein Eduard'

He disapproves of the regular claims for money made by their youngest brother Sigmund (1857-1913), who 'as a 32-year-old man should be aware of the limits of the his family's financial resilience' ...
