The beginning of this letter reads: 'L. B.!' (abbreviated for: Dear brother!) Beiliegend 1000 (eintausend) Mark, welche du mir gutschreiben wirst.
Short description:
Eduard Glaser (1855-1908) encloses 1000 marks with his letter - an amount he earned from the sale of his collections of antiquities from his third trip to Yemen (October 1887 - September 1888) to the 'Königliche Museen zu Berlin'.
He asks his brother Alois (1853-1931) to immediately send 44 florins to their younger brother Sigmund (1857-1913).
As far as the Arabic manuscripts originating from his third journey are concerned, Glaser intends to offer the entire collection to another prospective buyer if the 'Königliche Bibliothek zu Berlin' does not stick to its offer of 13,000 marks for 82 selected volumes.
Emphasising that he 'can't squander his assets', Glaser finally expresses confidence that he will 'get at least 25,000 marks for the books alone'.
