'Lieber Alois! Zuliegend weitere 400 Mk. (vierhundert Mark). 300 Mk habe ich zurückbehalten auf Reisespesen u. sonstige Auslagen, da ich Ende Mai nach München übersiedle. Deine Karte aus Fürth in Bayern hat mich sehr gefreut:
... Hier habe ich die Bibliothek nicht verkauft. Ich habe verlangt, dass man mir mit dem Angebot von 9000 Mk. bis Ende August im Worte stehe. Unterdessen habe ich schon anderwärts alle nöthigen Schritte gethan, wie die Bibliothek in der Gänze zu verkaufen.
Ich bin dieszbezüglich ohne Sorge und du kannst es auch sein. Verschleudern kann ich mein Vermögen nicht, selbst auf die Gefahr hin, dass ich noch 5 oder 6 Monate verliere. Dein Eduard'
Short description:
Eduard Glaser (1855-1908) encloses 400 marks with his letter - an amount he earned from the sale of his collections of antiquities from his third trip to Yemen (October 1887 - September 1888) to the 'Königliche Museen zu Berlin'.
He informs his elder brother Alois (1853-1931) that he has not yet sold his collection of Arabic manuscripts, but has already taken all necessary steps to sell the library in its entirety elsewhere.
Glaser reaffirms that he cannot squander his assets and expresses confidence that he will sell his collection, 'even at the risk of losing another five or six months'.
