'Hochgeehrter Herr, Ich habe Ihren werthen Brief gelesen u. vollkommen verstanden. Die Sachen die Sie mitgebracht haben sind natürlich, wenn gut erhalten, sehr wichtig und interessant, und ich möchte sie gern aufgespeichert sehen im Br. Museum.
Aber leider, wie ich Ihnen schon sagte, die Zeiten sind für Sie und für uns nichtreisenden Orientalisten sehr ungünstig. Das Br. Mus. hat in diesen Jahren viel weniger Geld als gewöhnlich von der Regierung bekommen. ... Im Augenblick bin ich nicht im Stande London zu besuchen. Wenn Dr. Renouf meinen Rath verlangt, so werde ich sehen ob ich vielleicht in den nächsten Wochen dahin gehen kann;
