'Hochverehrter Herr Glaser! Ich habe mit grossem Vergnügen Einsicht in Ihre interessanten 'Mittheilungen' genommen, welche Sie die Güte hatten mir zu übersenden und sage Ihnen hiefür meinen verbindlichsten Dank. Wie ich aus Ihrer Vorrede und aus dem oft polemischen Tone auch des fachlichen Theils entnehme, sind Ihre Beziehungen mit unserer vaterländischen Gelehrtenschaft nicht die besten!
Von meinem exclusiven Standpunkte als österr.-ungar. Patriot kann ich diesen Sachverhalt nur bedauern. Vom menschlichen Standpunkte aber bin ich indignirt darüber, dass man Ihnen die Früchte eines Unternehmens, bei welchem Sie Ihr Leben und Gesundheit aufs Spiel setzten, weg... möchte.
An Ihrer Stelle hätte ich die Inschriften nicht aus der Hand gegeben. Wie die Sachen jetzt stehen, würde ich Ihnen eine Lecture der §§1164-1171 unseres bürg. Gesetzbuches anempfehlen, da Sie sich bei der Verbissenheit Ihrer Gegner auf alles gefasst machen müssen. Mit besten Grüssen Ihr Hugo Graf Logothetti'

Hugo Count Logothetti (1852–1918), Attaché at the Austro-Hungarian Embassy in Constantinople, thanks Eduard Glaser (1855-1908) for sending him his work 'Mittheilungen über einige aus meiner Sammlung stammende sabäische Inschriften'. He deplores that Glaser's relation with the Austro-Hungarian scientific society 'are not the best', but understands Glaser's motives from a human perspective...
