'Hochgeehrter Herr! Die Art, wie Sie in dem soeben erschienenen Hefte der Zeitschrift eine frische Äußerung von mir über Prof. Müllers Ausgabe der 'Dscheziret' anführen erscheint in mehrfacher Hinsicht unrichtig.
Ich bin kein 'Jünger' Glasers. Ich dachte, dies geht aus meiner Anzeige seiner Skizze I deutlich genug hervor. Ebensowenig habe ich mich zu einer Äußerung 'hinreißen' lassen. Ich bin vielmehr bemüht gewesen beiden Theilen gerecht zu werden und habe Glasers Polemik - nicht nur gegen mich, sondern auch gegen Müller - offen gemißbilligt. Weitere Lanzen für den Wiener Gelehrten zu brechen ... für mich keine Veranlassung vor, der ich kein 'Jünger' Müllers bin un er selbst doch wehrfähg ist, wehrfähiger als ich.

Short description:
The German orientalist and diplomat Johannes Heinrich Mordtmann (1852-1932) emphasises that he does not want to be drawn into the conflict between Eduard Glaser (1855-1908) and David Heinrich Müller (1846-1912), being neither a 'disciple' of the one nor of the other.
He insists that neither his review of Glaser's work 'Skizze der Geschichte Arabiens von den ältesten Zeiten bis zum Propheten Muhammad' (vol. 1) nor his review of David Heinrich Müller's edition of the 'Ṣifat Ǧazīrat al-ʿArab' (Geography of the Arabian Peninsula by al-Hamdānī) should be understood as taking sides in the dispute between the two scholars.
