'Lieber Herr Glaser! Ihre Abhandlung �ber die von Ihnen dem Berliner Museum �berlassenen himyarischen Inschriften war f�r mich eine gro�e �berraschung; ich freute mich einmal �ber das Lebenszeichen von Ihnen dann aber wegen des sch�nen neuen Materiales, das Sie uns zugaenglich machen.
... Ich bedauere es dagegen, da� Sie sich des Anhanges nicht haben entschlagen k�nnen. Es wird, so wie nun einmal die Sachen liegen, Ihnen und Ihrem Werke nicht f�rderlich sein; das sage ich Ihnen ganz aufrichtig heraus. ... Ihrem Urtheile �ber M�llers 'Djeziret' stimme ich vollst�ndig bei; Sie haben fast w�rtlich dasselbe an M�ller selber geschrieben;

Short description:
The German scholar and diplomat Johannes Heinrich Mordtmann (1852-1932) expresses his surprise at Eduard Glaser's work 'Mittheilungen �ber einige aus meiner Sammlung stammende sab�ische Inschriften'.
Although he agrees with Glaser's judgement on David Heinrich M�ller's edition of al-Hamdānī's Geography of the Arabian Peninsula ('Ṣifat Ǧazīrat al-ʿArab'), he estimates that Glaser's polemics will not be beneficial to him or his work...
