'Hochgeehrter Herr Vorsitzender! Mein Bruder Alois übersandte mir eine Abschrift Ihrer geschätzten Zuschrift Z 252 vom 22. Juni l.J., aus der ich leider ersehe, dass nun auch unsere Gesellschaft sich von der Ansicht leiten lässt, dass ich in erster Linie ans Ausland denke.
... Meine Werke werden alle nur in wenigen Exemplaren gedruckt werden (300-400), Inschriften werden sogar nur in 100 - da gewähren die Verlage niemals 20 Freiexemplare, sondern wie die Weidmannsche Verlagsbuchhandlung in Berlin von meiner 'Skizze' 12 Exemplare. Nun bedenken Sie: Ich erhalte laut Vertrag für die beiden Bände der 'Skizze' 450 Mark Honorar und 12 Freiexemplare. Beide Bände kosten 38 Mark und 20 Exemplare würden also einen Wert von 760 Mark representiren, also mehr als das Honorar.
