'Dear Sir, Your application for a subvention, accompanied by a few words of recommendation from the venerated President of the Alliance in Vienna, has been duly considered by the Executive Committee of the Anglo-Jewish Association, and they are prepared to recommend that a sum equal ... to the amount voted by the Vienna Alliance shall be granted by the Council for the purpose you have mentioned in your letter.

Short description:
Albert Löwy (1816-1908), Secretary of the 'Anglo-Jewish Association' (AJA), holds out the prospect of a subsidy to Eduard Glaser (1855-1908) in the amount of the contribution from the Vienna branch of the 'Alliance' (Israélite Universelle) on condition that he 'make researches into the history and the condition of the Jews in South Arabia'.

Remarks:
The Anglo-Jewish Association was founded in 1871 to represent views on matters relevant to Jews and to facilitate education through operating a network of Jewish schools across the British Empire. One of the two founders was Albert Löwy, the minister of the West London Synagogue.
