The beginning of this letter reads: 'Lieber Bruder! (Dear brother!) Ich denke, ich mache dir und unsren anderen Verwandten, die es wissen dürfen (also nicht allen- ) eine Freude, wenn ich dir mittheile, dass ich heute eine Einladung für den nächsten Donnerstag zum Rout bei Sr. Königl. Hoheit dem Prinzen von Bayern erhalten habe.
Wie ich den hiesigen Zeitungen entnehme, sind nur die 3 obersten Hofrangklassen eingeladen, also die vornehmste Gesellschaft Münchens. Bei dieser Gelegenheit werde ich selbstverständlich auch der Prinzessin Erzherzogin Gisela (Tochter unseres Kaisers) vorgestellt werden, für mich eine sehr grosze Auszeichnung, da ich eigentlich weit entfernt bin, zu den Hofrangklassen zu gehören.
Du kannst das mittheilen: unserem Vater, der Mutter, Ernst, Alois, Schwägerin Pauline und Josef Reimann, aber gesprochen braucht davon nicht zu werden. Mit herzl. Grüszen Dein treuer Bruder Eduard'
