The beginning of this letter reads: 'Lieber Bruder! Das war gestern zu viel Ehre! Ich wurde zum Ehrenmitglied ernannt u. sasz bei Tische gegenüber dem Prinzen Ludwig (ältesten Sohne des Prinzregenten, also dem künftigen König von Bayern) und dem Ministerpräsidenten Freiherr von Crailsheim. Neben mir der höchste General oder einer der höchsten Generale der bayrischen Armee.
Der Prinz conversirte fast während der ganzen Dauer der Tafel mit mir u. blieb bis Mitternacht. Kinder, das war zu viel Ehre! Gott gebe, dass meine Feinde diese Auszeichnung nicht dazu benutzen, neuerdings über mich herzufallen!
Ich bleibe noch 1 oder 2 Tage hier, dann gehe ich nach Berlin und am 25. nach Greifswald, wo ich am 26. vortrage. Grusz Eduard'

Eduard Glaser informs his elder brother Alois (1853-1931) that he was made an honorary member of the Geographical Society of Munich and that he had the honor to be seated in front of Prince Ludwig of Bavaria ('the future King of Bavaria') and Prime Minister of Bavaria Freiherr von Crailsheim (1841-1926) during a reception.
