The website covers Jewish cemeteries in Podbořany (Czech Republic) and its surroundings. The article on the life of the Jews in Eduard Glaser's birthplace Podbořanský Rohozec (formerly: Deutsch Rust or Teutschenrust) features a brief history of the municipality and its synagogue and cemetery as well as on the explorer himself who is referred to as 'Elias' Glaser.
Elias Glaser (1855-1908) is portrayed as 'the son of a merchant' who studied astronomy and Arabic. Focus is put on his research sojourns during which 'he studied Arabic dialects, engaged in ethnography, made copies of manuscripts and collected oriental monuments'.
With regard to the Jewish settlement, the authors inform that the largest demolitions took place after World War II. The remaining buildings face the current municipal cemetery and include the house where Elias Glaser was born.
