In 1881, the orientalist Joseph Derenbourg (1811-1895), representing the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres, had provided a grant of 6000 Francs to Eduard Glaser (1855-1908) on the condition that the scientific results of Glaser's first journey to Yemen (1882-1884) become the property of the academy.
Together with his son Hartwig Derenbourg (1844-1908), who was entrusted with the Himyaritic and Sabaean section of the academy, Joseph Derenbourg describes the monuments / inscriptions acquired by the Louvre Museum in Paris.
Objects originating from Eduard Glaser's first trip to Yemen (1882-1884) are:
- GL 211
- GL 213
- GL 274
