This article published by Karl Vollers (1857-1909), assistant at the then Königliche Bibliothek zu Berlin between 1882 and 1886, provides information on the acquisition of 23 Arabic Manuscripts (on July 15th, 1884) collected by Eduard Glaser (1855-1908) during his first journey to Yemen (Oct. 1882 - March 1884)--> '1st Glaser Collection'
The author of the article provides a description of the 23 volumes and informs on the condition of the manuscripts whose most salient attribute is the virtual absence of diacritics. (p. 574)
Reference is made to Eduard Glaser's article 'Die Sectenverhältnisse des Islam und der Mahdismus' published by the newspaper 'Neue Freie Presse' no. 7115 (18.06.1884)
Eduard Glaser's 2nd collection of Arabic manuscripts encompassing 241 volumes was purchased by the Königliche Bibliothek in February 1887.
A handlist covering the first and second Glaser Collections was published by Wilhelm Ahlwardt (1828-1909), professor of Oriental languages at the University of Greifswald.
