In his review of Eduard Glaser's work 'Die Abessinier in Arabien und Afrika auf Grund neu entdeckter Inschriften', the British classical philologist, J.W. M'Crindle (1825-1913) points out that the 'main object is to show that the original home of the Ethiopians or Habashat was not Africa, but was that part of Arabia now called Mahra, which extends eastward from Hadhramaut along the coast in the direction of Oman'. (p. 140)
M'Crindle also quotes a series of remarkable etymologies Eduard Glaser had suggested for names related to Ethiopia and its people.
