The German orientalist and librarian Emil Gratzl (1877-1957) covers his short collaboration with Eduard Glaser regarding the elaboration of a catalogue recording the Yemeni manuscripts obtained by the then 'Königliche Hof- und Staatsbibliothek zu München' (todays 'Bavarian State Library'); he also provides information on the contents of the collection which includes Zaydi manuscripts.
The collection had been brought together by the Italian merchant Giuseppe Caprotti (1862–1919) who had lived a long time in Ṣanʿāʾ. In 1901, Eduard Glaser had mediated the acquisition of 157 manuscripts by the 'Bavarian State Library'; the purchase was finalized in 1902.
