In his letter to the editor of the newspaper 'Neue Freie Presse', Eduard Glaser asks for assistance in finding his faithful Yemeni servant Ṣāliḥ ibn Aḥmed.
The 19-year-old Yemeni had accompanied Eduard Glaser to Prague and Vienna and was in charge of caring for Glaser's two greyhounds during an international dog show in Vienna.
On Sept. 4th, 1886, Eduard Glaser sent his servant on a steamboat back to Aden, telling him he would join him in Yemen soon.
However, Eduard Glaser's departure for Yemen was delayed. So his servant - according to a letter sent by his family to Eduard Glaser - set off for Europe 'in order to share his master's fate'.
Eduard Glaser promises to reimburse anyone who will assist his servant Ṣāliḥ ibn Aḥmed, whom he supposes having landed without papers and money in Triest, to reach Glaser's residence in Prague.
