During his fourth journey to Yemen (January 1892 - March 1894), Eduard Glaser (1855-1908) had collected hundreds of Ancient South Arabian inscriptions, antiquities and coins as well as ancient Arabic & Persian manuscripts which were acquired by the then Wiener Hofmuseum (Imperial Court Museum) & the Hofbibliothek (Imperial Court Library).
Since Glaser refrained from publishing his collection (see introduction to 'Die Abessinier in Arabien und Afrika' p. V, 1895), David Heinrich Müller was commissioned by the Emperor's Lord Chamberlain, Count Ferdinand zu Trauttmannsdorff, with the publication of the Glaser Collection purchased by the 'Wiener Hofmuseum'.
The present work by the German scholar Fritz Hommel (1854-1936) is a review of D.H. Müller's publication bearing the same title. Reference is made to the following inscriptions: - GL 1062, GL 1147, GL 1065, GL 1066, GL 1546, GL 1652, GL 1054, GL 1058, GL 1076,
