Eduard Glaser (1855-1908) deals with the biblical land of Ophir, which is said to have been rich in gold and from which King Solomon, in addition to gold, also procured silver, ivory, monkeys, and peacocks.
He refers to the many assumptions that had been made concerning the geographical position of Ophir, pointing out that he had located Ophir on the coasts of the Persian Gulf. (p. 1)
With regard to the findings of the German explorer Dr. Carl Peters (1856-1918), Eduard Glaser concedes that the land of gold identified by Peters in Africa, may have been a colony of the 'Stammland' (home country) of Ophir which is mentioned in the Table of Nations and has to be located in Arabia. (p. 2)
