The booklet constitutes a special edition of Fritz Hommel's essay on October 20th, 1889, in the supplement no. 291 of the newspaper 'Allgemeine Zeitung'. An abridged English version of the article was also published in the periodical 'Hebraica'.
In this essay, Fritz Hommel (1854-1936), professor of Semitic languages at the University of Munich, discusses topics dealt with in Eduard Glaser's work 'Skizze der Geschichte Arabiens von den ältesten Zeiten bis zum Propheten Muhammad' which was about to be published at the time of Hommel's preview.
It is particularly worth mentioning that Hommel takes up the question of the age of the Minaean kingdom; he adheres to Glaser's theory (long chronology) and dates the demise of the Minaean kingdom to 900 BCE (p. 7).
