This publication by Walter Dostal (1928-2011) provides an account of Eduard Glaser's professional career (pp. 11-40): the author traces the explorer's early years in Prague and Vienna and describes how he became interested in Ancient South Arabia.
Walter Dostal also presents an outline of the political situation in the Yemen at the time of Eduard Glaser's first journey to Yemen (1882-1884). (p.66 ff.) and a summary of the position of the stranger in the tribal customary law.
