Contents:
The 42nd volume of the 'Jahrbuch der Berliner Museen' contains a detailed account of the development of the collections of ancient Near Eastern antiquities in Berlin - from the opening of the first Berlin museum - referred to as the 'Old Museum' - in 1830 until the opening of the 'Vorderasiatische Abteilung' of the 'Pergamon Museum' in 1936.
The first object inventoried in the 'Vorderasiatische Abteilung' of the then 'Königliche Museen zu Berlin' is a Sabean inscription from Ḥadaqān (p. 66) which the 'Royal Museums' purchased from Eduard Glaser in May 1886, i.e. upon his return from his second journey to Yemen (April 1885 - February 1886).
