The Prussian-born British Orientalist Hartwig Hirschfeld (1854–1934) describes Eduard Glaser's work 'Die Abessinier in Arabien und Afrika' as 'full of startling discoveries and ingenious theories, throwing light on ancient cultures hitherto shrouded in mist'.
Hirschfeld characterises Glaser's diction as 'appealing', but criticises the 'sometimes rather polemical' discourse.
