This article covers the acquisition of Eduard Glaser's collection of 241 Arabic manuscripts originating from his second trip to Yemen (April 1885 - February 1886) by the then 'Königliche Bibliothek zu Berlin' (present-day 'Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin').
The author of the article emphasises that Eduard Glaser (1855-1908), through his rare zeal and despite great hardships, has come to know the country and its people better than any of his predecessors.
In his description of the acquisition process, the author points out that Wilhelm Ahlwardt (1828-1909), Professor of Oriental languages at the University of Greifswald, had been commissioned to travel to Prague and assess the contents and value of the manuscripts.
