This work by Adolph Kohut (1848–1917), a German-Hungarian journalist, contains selected biographies of well-known Jewish scholars, politicians, philantropists and entrepreneurs.
Eduard Glaser (1855-1908) is portrayed as an explorer who 'has made a significant contribution to the history of Arabia'. (pp. 265 ff.) Whilst pointing out the importance of Glaser's fourth journey to Yemen (1892-1894) during which the explorer mapped the area from Hadhramawt to Mecca, collected 800 ancient South Arabian inscriptions, more than 250 Arabic manuscripts and various language samples, especially from Mahra, the author also highlights Glaser's work 'Skizze der Geschichte und Geographie Arabiens von den ältesten Zeiten bis zum Propheten Muhammad'.
