The article is about the approval of a grant of 3,000 fl. by the 'Gesellschaft zur Förderung deutscher Wissenschaft, Kunst und Literatur in Böhmen' (Society for the Promotion of German Science, Art and Literature in Bohemia) for Eduard Glaser's fourth journey to Yemen (1892-1894).
The letter of recommendation which prompted the positive decision reads as follows: 'Like hardly any of his predecessors, Dr. Glaser has shown on his previous journeys that he knows how to defy the difficulties and obstacles posed by the inhospitable nature of the soil in South Arabia on the one hand, and to deal with the distrustful and violent population on the other.'
