The present volume contains descriptions of objects held by the Müze-i Hümayun / Musée Impérial Ottoman. The first publication of the Sabaean inscriptions available in the museum was entrusted to the renowned German scholar and diplomat Johannes Heinrich Mordtmann (1852-1932).
The preface covers the history of the acquisition of the artefacts and mentions 'Dr. Glaser, the well-known explorer of South Arabia who brought back several pieces, among them the third copy of the large inscription No. 61, which is one of the most important texts in Sabaean epigraphy'. (p. 10)
