The article contains a book review of Eduard Glasers work 'Skizze der Geschichte und Geographie Arabiens von den ältesten Zeiten bis zum Propheten Muhammad' by the French scholar Joseph Halévy (1827-1917).
Halévy points out that 'all the sources of information, the Bible, the classical authors, the cuneiform texts, the Arab geographers are consulted in order to provide a faithful picture of Arabia from the most remote times to the advent of Islam'.
In his view, 'Glaser's work will cause a stir in the academic community, for the abundance of topics covered as well as the sharp of the writing, are likely to provoke much controversy and arouse emotions'. (p. 299)
