This article contains a review of Eduard Glaser's book 'Skizze der Geschichte und Geographie Arabiens von den ältesten Zeiten bis zum Propheten Muhammad' ('Sketch of the History and Geography of Arabia from the Earliest Times down to the Time of the Prophet Muhammad', vol. II).
The reviewer emphasises that Glaser has succeeded in determining the geographical location of the biblical land of Ophir, famous for its gold, through various combinations. The book will therefore prove indispensable - especially for scholars of biblical studies.
The author of this review concludes that 'despite all its merits, the book will find only a very narrow circle of readers in the various countries. From a scholarly point of view, however, it is an extremely meritorious work that does Glaser the highest honour.'
