The beginning of this letter reads: 'L. Br.!' (abbreviated for: Lieber Bruder! --> Dear brother!) Ich habe dir heute telegraphirt, Siegmund 260 Gulden (zweihundert sechzig Gulden) zu schicken. Ich habe das gethan, um dem Vorwurf auszuweichen, dass ich ihm hinderlich im Wege stehe.
Ich habe ihm aber gleichzeitig geschrieben, dass er 1 1/2 Jahre von mir nichts weiter hören wird, wenn er bis dahin sich mit seinen Huren nicht auseinandergesetzt o. sie geheiratet hat. Sollte er noch einen Kreuzer von mir oder euch verlangen, dann, theilte ich ihm mit, wird er bei der Polizei als Verschwender und Betrüger angezeigt und wird seitens der Familie angesucht werden, dass man ihn in die Zwangsarbeitsanstalt schicke.
Seit seinem Doctorgrad hat er wol schon 2000 fl herausgenommen und das in weniger als 3/4 Jahren. Dazu hat er noch selbst etwas verdient. Wenn man da nicht energisch Halt ruft, dann sind wir alle in 1-2 Jahren Bettler. Hoffentlich wird mein Brief wirken; wenn nicht, dann war Siegmund mein Bruder. Das ist geradezu unerhört. Dein Eduard'
Short description:
Eduard Glaser (1855-1908) tells his elder brother Alois (1853-1931) to send further money to their youngest brother Sigmund (1857-1913) 'so that he will be not accused of being in the way of Sigmund's future'.
However, if Sigmund demanded one more penny from the family, he would be reported to the police as a squanderer and a swindler, and the family would not hesitate to request his incarceration in a forced labour institution...
