The present article deals with an essay on the 'valuable Ancient South Arabian inscriptions' collected by Eduard Glaser (1855-1908) on his third journey to Yemen which Fritz Hommel (1854-1936), Professor of Semitic languages at the University of Munich, published in the 'Münchener Allgemeine Zeitung' (on Oct. 20th, 1889).
Reference is made to Eduard Glaser's work 'Skizze der Geschichte und Geographie Arabiens von den ältesten Zeiten bis zum Propheten Muhammad' (vol. I) which was submitted to selected scholars during the International Congress of Orientalists in Stockholm and the Royal Academy of Sciences in Berlin (on Oct. 17th, 1889).
Last but not least, the author of this article emphasises Glaser's merit that 'the history of the ancient realms of Arabia can now be reconstructed in detail'.
